Anca Toma has worked in the Smoke Free Partnership since 2012 and was appointed as its Director in 2018. For the past 10 years she worked on the coordination of national and European campaigns, with a focus on the revision of the Tobacco Products Directive, the implementation of measures to safeguard health policy from tobacco industry interference, and global tobacco control policy. Previously, Ms Toma was a consultant in public affairs and communications developing and deploying lobbying strategies on various health areas for companies, EU agencies and non-governmental organisations. Between 2002-2005, she was an advisor to the Romanian Chief Negotiator with the EU, working on communications and media relations and coordinating the preparatory work for accession conferences. Anca holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Bucharest and a Master’s degree in European Politics and Administration from the College of Europe in Bruges.
